Good vs. Bad Emails

Dear Professor,

I am writing to let you know that I will not be coming to class today, I have had a fever for the past few days and am going to see a doctor this afternoon.  Although I will not be in class I have checked the syllabus and finished the assignment that is due today, I have also asked a classmate to pick up any handouts that are given today.  I just wanted to give you a heads up, and I hope to return to class by Monday.

Sentence types in The Declaration of Independence

Simple: We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here.

Compound: We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence.

Complex: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Compound-Complex: He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.
